Film review: Radiance

This film review is well overdue as since encountering Radiance early this year I have watched it over 5 times including the times that I have just listened to the audio as I fell asleep. That is how much impact this film made in my life the first time I watched it and I feel that it deserves even more recognition than it did when it was first released.

Film Essay: Happy Feet

Disclaimer: This article contains spoilers

Happy feet is one of those films that is cemented in the way I view my childhood. I can remember vividly our family outing to Cineworld, the excitement rising inside of me as we entered Cineworld. The delicious smell of popcorn tantalising my 6 -year-old self, leading me, unfortunately for my parents, to beg and scream for food. I remember sitting comfortably in the chair- legs dangling in the air with a snack box in hand- waiting joyfully for the movie to start. From the opening heart song sequence with Memphis and Norma I was sold, and Happy Feet became my new obsession. As a 6-year-old I was obsessed with Happy Feet and as now a 19-year-old I appreciate it even more. Maybe it could seem a little bit embarrassing that on my 19th year on this Earth I still drop tears at an animated movie targeted at toddlers but there are so many hidden gems and themes in Happy feet that make it one of my favourite movies of all times. I am proud to say that I have watched the film twice this year already and will probably be watching it more in the future. Continue reading “Film Essay: Happy Feet”

A Nameless Love

Inspired by the animated movie: Your name.

Love:
If only I was brave enough to whisper it to the air.
To let the vibrations of the atoms send joyful signals to his ears.
But that would only awaken my fears.

I’m a coward.
I’m scared of exposing my feelings for him.
I’m afraid of looking him in the eye
And telling a lie,
A lie that I know that he wants to hear,
<<I don’t love you>>
Those words, not my own
Those words that I know that he secretly holds in his heart
And believes to be what’s in mine. Continue reading “A Nameless Love”

Orange (movie) review

Orange ,which is based off a manga series by  Ichigo Takano, is an eye- catching and poignant story of high school students who are given a chance to radically change their future. I have been itching to watch the film ever since it was announced that Kento Yamazaki would play the lead. Yamazaki definitely did not disappoint – he depicted young Kakeru Naruse beautifully along side the other cast.

The plot almost follows the same underline meaning as Ao Haru ride which also depicts a teenage boy who is battered with scars from his past and needs support and care from his friends. However, this is where the similarities of the two mangas stop as they both carry different weights and emotional ties that should be experienced. Continue reading “Orange (movie) review”

Happy New Year mes amis!

Long time no blog! Haha – I’m sorry about my attempt at being funny . Well it wasn’t that bad ,was it? Anyway It’s a new year which means a new phase of dedication to you wonderful people who actually spend time reading my/our content. *Yay*

This blog post is long overdue -very ,very overdue may I add. I just Wanna Hug you or Dakishimetai – Shinjitsu No Monogatari is a Japanese film that came out on the 1st of  February  2014 which was 2 years ago (gasp!) . Since the day that I saw I just Wanna Hug you it seems as if I just can’t forget it . It’s one of those films that stay in your heart forever. I am not really one to cry over a film as I usually don’t get attached to characters that I have only seen for 107 minutes or for however long the film is. Despite this , I just Wanna Hug you fully attacked my heart to the point that I was bent over my laptop screaming to the heavens “Why!” . The fact that the story is in fact true did not help my broken heart and my damp face .

Jamie Wei Huang AW15 : NYMPHOMANIAC

Salut mes amis !

“Jamie Wei Huang is a contemporary womenswear label which combines conceptual ideas with modern silhouette.” – london fashion week

I absolutely love Jamie Wei Huang’s Autumn /Winter collection, each piece provokes a new emotion and her combination of fabrics is behold beautiful. I am also in love with the concept and theme that runs through the collection ;I would probably mess it up if I tried to explain so here is an extract from her website :

“Based on Jamie Wei Huang’s strong beliefs on seeking inner-self through design, her Autumn/Winter 15 collection tells a story about a young woman and her libidinous life inspired by film – Nymphomaniac.

The collection sets aside society’s expectations of women, and emphasizes their buried desires and fantasies with elegance and subtlety. ‘Nymphomaniac’ uses metaphors, to unravel the struggles the main character experienced while contradicting society’s viewpoints on love, sex and pain.Eventually coming to peace with her subconscious and embracing her true being.” –Jamie Wei Huang AW15

If you are not buzzing with excitement and curiosity now you will after you view the amazing collection.

I hope that you love the collection as much as I do 🙂

P.S Which piece do you love the most ?

All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust.

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Silver Screen.”

You know that place between sleep and awake? That place where you still remember dreamingThat’s where I’ll always love you… Peter Pan. That’s where I’ll be waiting. — TinkerBell, “Hook”

Salut mes amis !

Today is going to be a different kind of post . I really haven’t planned it but something inside me is telling e not to and to just to write from the heart and where ever it takes me I will follow. Dreams. We all have them . We all admire them some more than others. However , a dream gives us a sense of identity, personality and aspirations . I know what you are thinking some dreams can get a little bizarre but dreaming and having a “dream” identifies as humans. Okay I get it you animal lovers and ” everyone  as a soul” believers but I am not going to get into the question : Do animals have aspirations too ? . For I have never been one to know. What I do know is how special each and every dream is to the individual and to humanity.

”  Dreams are successions of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. ”

I dream of leaving a legacy in this world (a good one of course). It doesn’t have be winning the Nobel peace prize ,even though that would be awesome, but I dream to inspire someone , something, somewhere. If we all hold on to our dreams an do whatever we physically and mentally can to achieve them, they will come true. As Walt Disney stated “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.

Take the courage my friends and leave that legacy that could change the world !

P.S What is your dream ?
