Weeding out Hopelessness

Michael Landy, a pioneer of the Young British Artists movement, was born in London in 1963. Landy is best known for his performance installation piece “Break down” where he destroyed and displayed all his possessions. In 2008, Landy was elected as a member of the Royal Academy of Arts London and continues to make a big impact in the artistic industry.

Creeping Buttercup’, which is a detailed study of individual weeds, is a part of Nourishment -a collection of etching pieces. It is said that to acquire the materials needed as inspiration for Creeping Buttercup, Landy found weeds growing in the street.

The meticulous study of the weeds signifies the miraculous growth that can occur in an unfruitful / famine – filled land. Just as in an urban street it is unlikely to find a lot of green spaces. Continue reading “Weeding out Hopelessness”

Unravel

I’ve tried my best.
I’ve done everything that I can for you
but you still don’t see me.
Why is that,

I’m I not good enough
An alien for you to gawk at
A prisoner of your deadly stare

Is it okay for me to be locked up in your venomous smile?
Release me from the hole that is unrequited love
So you can make it clear to me.

Don’t avoid me.

Don’t avoid this…
…Now
Unravel my dreams

10 Steps to a healthier mind

It takes time to heal a mind. To grow a mind. Take the time to build your healthy mind.

1. Smile more

The act of smiling can help lift not just your spirits but of those around you-the more you do it the easier it will become. Trust me – smiling to yourself can feel weird at first and awkward especially when you aren’t feeling yourself. However,I have found that faking a smile once in a while can actually make you a happier person. This does not mean that you should pretend that your problems do not exist and use the smile as a mask – accepting issues and situation then figuring out how to solve them with a smile is very different from hiding.

2. Adopt a growth mind-set
You’ve probably heard it a million times but however it is true. Adopting a growth mind-set could be the start of your new journey as a better you. Carol S.Dweck stated that “In a growth mind-set students understand that their talents and abilities can be developed through effort, good teaching and persistence. They don’t necessarily think everyone’s the same or anyone can be Einstein, but they believe everyone can get smarter if they work at it.” This can be applied outside school, of course.

Welcome to my story

.We are all the main characters of our own story.

Sometimes it is easy to feel as if you are just playing a supportive role in life. You feel as if the people around you live a more exciting life – they are always in the spotlight while you hide in the shadows. You hide in the shadows of your friends. You hide in the shadows of your family.

To you , you do not matter, but to someone else you are a precious pearl- their main character. You probably haven’t met this person yet. If that is the case then you should start living for yourself. All main characters in fairy tales could not have possibly existed without their supporting characters. Would there have been a Little red ridding hood without an evil wolf- I think not. The evil wolf had a purpose and so do we all.

Each of us have a purpose in life and it is up to us to find and alter it.

Welcome to my story.

Where I make up the plot.

Where I decide who my supporting leads are.

Where I begin to live.

3 bloggers that changed my life

In the last decade Fashion blogs have exploded, with more and more online websites set up every single day. Since the day that I came to know and love the online fashion community there are some who have and always will inspire me. From their uniqueness to their strong sense of self- these bloggers or should I say online Curators have , unknown to themselves, truly inspired me.

The following list showcases some of my favourite fashion and beauty bloggers:

Stella’s Wardrobe

One of my first ever blogs that I came across on the inter-web.Stella Kattermann, a creative and social media manager, grabs audiences with her unique and approachable style. In my opinion, she has not changed her goals or content to fit with the latest online trends through out the years. That is what I truly admire about her ; she has always put out content that I love and I believe that I will continue to love. Continue reading “3 bloggers that changed my life”

Mr Nietzsche in the convenience store (Review)

Salut mes amis !

Weeks have gone past since I have been able to sit done and indulge without feeling the guilt that comes with procrastination. However, I did manage to complete a whole drama during my procrastination sessions which ,if I may add, is very impressive.

Mr Nietzsche in the convenience store is a Japanese drama that seems to be at the top of the Must see list this Spring. To be honest, I never knew that such brilliance existed until it buzzed into all my social media platforms and ,as you do, I decided to follow the crowd. I am pleased to say that Mr Nietzsche in the convenience store was far better than I expected.

Brand Highlight: Leighton Denny

Salut mes amis !

After receiving Leighton Denny nail polishes last Christmas I  became curious about the brand and what the nail polish offers. As a nail fanatic I was delighted to hear that the brand actually care about the condition of our nails and sell many products to aid our nail needs .IMG_4430[1]

The award winning brand was founded, yes you guessed it, by Leighton Denny himself . The beauty expert  has spent most of his years in the beauty industry and knows exactly what we want . Each nail polish is roughly £11 each but believe me they are worth the price . They last pretty well on my nail polish resistant hands (about 3-4 days) but the real price is in the quality of the products . You only need one coat of the nail polish for it to be fully opaque!

I absolutely love what Leighton Denny has created and I can’t wait to see what else he has for us .
