When print was in …

Salut mes amis!

Back in the day, more like 2 – 3 years ago, magazines used to rule the fashion industry with a whip .However, things have changed since then and fashion has now been taken over by the digital era.

IMG_4424[1]

Some of you will question my argument saying that Vogue magazine and Elle magazine are huge companies that still stand firm in the print industry. I shall not argue with you as you are 100 percent right . Despite this , Vogue publishes online almost every minute of the day (I’ll have to admit that I am exaggerating just slightly).

IMG_4426[1]

Even the novel industry has been taken over by technology with websites such as wattpad ,which I love, publishing innovative new stories online . Audio books make our lives much easier and our brains a lot less used as we can choose to sit around being read to .

I largely miss those days of visiting the stores in search of the latest Company magazine issue and analysing each article in the magazine in search for inspiration. There is something mesmerising about picking up something physical – feeling it- analysing it .

IMG_4428[1].JPG

Moreover, I do not dispute that digital prints and magazines have many benefits but I will forever be adamant that print will always give a more unique experience than digital but a very isolating one I would like to add. As our society becomes more dependent on technology I hope that we do not forget the feelings and emotions that come about when holding and analysing a book / magazine.

Thank you for reading.

The benefits of Argan Oil

Salut mes amis !

Weeks have turned into months and months have turned into years since I have spoken to you about my skin journey and what I have been doing to get rid of my teenage prone acne skin .

Last time we discussed the wonderful effects of wearing sun protection daily as the sun does have a reputation of deepening acne scars . However , due to the high doses of Melanin in my skin I realised that I need as much of the sun as possible. Nevertheless ,I am still in the habit of obsessing over sun  cream and its benefits !

If the sun cream trick didn’t work , then what did ? You may ask yourself. The answer is simply : Argan oil . Yes, I repeat Argan oil. Most of you have probably heard ‘Argan oil’ referenced in many hair posts ,which rave about the wonderful effect it has on dry hair, but didn’t know that it does wonders at transforming acne prone skin as well .

IMG_4417[2].JPG

I have been applying the miracle oil all over my face once a day after cleansing and I have seen marvellous results . The argon oil fills your face with moisture after cleansing it with harsh chemicals . I find that it protects my face during the day without soaking my face with too much moisture that in turn could cause more breakouts .

IMG_4415[1]

Here are just a few benefits of the miracle oil

  • Soothes skin
  • Promotes healing
  • Provides natural moisture
  • Contains anti-oxidants which help to heal damaged skin cells
  • Reduces Inflammation
  • High in Vitamin E and fatty acid content

I heart Makeup ! Review

Salut mes amis !

I was meant to write this post almost 100 years ago (cue exaggeration) but I haven’t been able to get around to it . Except for now . While I was in Spain I picked up the I Heart Eye Shadow Palette “I Heart Passion”, I absolutely adore the palette and I wanted to share with you my overall thoughts on the product .

Thoughts: ” Compared to other palettes I have , the shades aren’t as pigmented as  I would like but for the price the colours do stand out . I believe that it is all in how you apply it !” – Instagram  (@xlola15x)

It has been a long time since I have done a nail inspiration post ; but here is my Summer nails trends (2015 edition ) .

2. Pale glam

This is very similar to the trend above but it is a mixture of glitter and a base colour.

3. I’ve got the blues

4. Negative space

Yes , this trend just seems to not want to go away ;with more and more adaptions for it growing everyday!

Thank you for reading, I hope that you gained some nail inspiration 🙂 .

Project selfie

Salut mes amis !

I was going through my emails this morning and I saw an email simply titled “Press”. Obviously , like any other human I was curious , no I was intrigued about the contents of that email. So I opened it to find what could be one of the best ideas that I have heard for a really long time . By now you would have guessed that what I am going  to tell you is about Project selfie . What is it you ask, well as usual you know that I am not that good at describing so here is an extract from Project selfies press release :

“Celebrating the selfie with – what else? – a selfie series .Lambert begins video series that offers objective view of trend

Philadelphia, Penn. – Depending on a variety of self-identifiers, you might consider selfies – self-taken photographs that are typically shared on social media – narcissistic, empowering, innocent fun, a right of passage or the decline of civilization.  Jessica Lauren L. Lambert, creative director of the Anatomy of the Selfie (#anatomyoftheselfie) project, is moving the selfie beyond the rhetoric and using it to place appearance in a larger cultural context.

And just what does all that mean? Aren’t we just talking about people obsessed with themselves and unwarranted attention?

“Every human being, at some point in his or her life, becomes self-aware and self-obsessed,” says Lambert. “It’s a natural part of multiple developmental stages and it’s not new. What’s new is the vehicle of expression – in this case, the selfie, and in my case specifically, collections of selfies on Instagram.”

Lambert has created a collection of 15-second time lapsed selfies that are set to current music and then shared on Instagram. This original collection features Lambert in her Victory Condominium Building apartment in Philadelphia. She says her project is less about making a statement – something selfies are often used to do – and more of a not-too-serious commentary on popular culture.

“The project is meant to be humorous,” she says. “It’s not a strong stance for or against anything. It’s a reflection of a slice of time in our shared history.”

Setting off for Los Angeles soon, Lambert has plans to start a travel series that will include selfie collections taken in hotels, restaurants and at landmarks around the globe.”

I’m sorry that it wasn’t really an “extract” but I thought that you needed too read the whole thing to understand the true beauty of what she is doing . Here are a few that she has already done :

I hope that you support what she is doing . Thank you for reading 🙂

1970 Prom Makeup inspiration

Salut mes amis !

As we all know it is prom season in the UK and I have to be honest , I  am absolutely obsessed with the idea of prom. Not in the creepy stalker way. I think that it is the anticipation and curiosity of what I am going wear and how I am going to look like on my own prom. My sister’s second prom is on Friday and that has gotten me in the mood to research some makeup looks for it , however this is not  going to be another blog post on prom makeup . No , no. I am going to stick to the theme of the last post : 1970’s !

1. The natural glow

This is one of the  more alternative looks that most posts that I have seen don’t mention, but I believe that the natural glow can actually work. My sister said something to me  after she asked me to do her makeup on Friday:  ” I want t look like me”. That’s exactly how some girls want to look on their prom night and I know that some feel pressured to go for the more extravagant looks which will be mentioned further below ; I think for  an event such as Prom you should wear as much makeup as you like or as little.

2. The disco blue/ green tint.

It’s exactly what it sounds like .Disco diva’s here is one for you ! If you like colour ,then why not try a very 70’s hint of blue or green ?

3. The fan lash

One thing : Big lashes !

4.  The smoky eye.

From dark to light , glittery to glossy . The Smoky eye is a classic and has been for years , it is great for a prom night .

I hope that you received some prom makeup inspiration!  🙂

Jamie Wei Huang AW15 : NYMPHOMANIAC

Salut mes amis !

“Jamie Wei Huang is a contemporary womenswear label which combines conceptual ideas with modern silhouette.” – london fashion week

I absolutely love Jamie Wei Huang’s Autumn /Winter collection, each piece provokes a new emotion and her combination of fabrics is behold beautiful. I am also in love with the concept and theme that runs through the collection ;I would probably mess it up if I tried to explain so here is an extract from her website :

“Based on Jamie Wei Huang’s strong beliefs on seeking inner-self through design, her Autumn/Winter 15 collection tells a story about a young woman and her libidinous life inspired by film – Nymphomaniac.

The collection sets aside society’s expectations of women, and emphasizes their buried desires and fantasies with elegance and subtlety. ‘Nymphomaniac’ uses metaphors, to unravel the struggles the main character experienced while contradicting society’s viewpoints on love, sex and pain.Eventually coming to peace with her subconscious and embracing her true being.” –Jamie Wei Huang AW15

If you are not buzzing with excitement and curiosity now you will after you view the amazing collection.

I hope that you love the collection as much as I do 🙂

P.S Which piece do you love the most ?

Inspiration log : Working hard = success

Salut mes amis !

”  Working hard is very important. You’re not going to get anywhere without working extremely hard.”  – George Lucas

“Working hard is great, being lazy sometimes is great, but failed potential is the worst.” –  Campbell Scott

“I learned the value of hard work by working hard.” – Margaret Mead

Let’s start by defining what working hard is : Always putting a lot of effort and care into something (Cambridge dictionary ) . I have talked about the working hard topic before however it has really dawned upon me how important it is recently . I have my Mocks coming up in a few weeks and I have found it hard to just sit down , ignore the distractions and revise. I am a procrastinator, simply a procrastinator and I have always known this. But I have never discovered how to deal with it. Last Thursday and Friday was a massive turn around, do you want the story ?

My church set up an intensive GCSE revision session and I really did not want to go due to the word ‘intensive’ and I normally stay away from anything ‘intensive’ . Despite of this I went and I actually surprised myself and did not in the terms : procrastinate . We can all conclude that working hard will always equal success , no matter the circumstance . Working hard is different to each individual , to me working hard is setting my mind on something and not letting anything stop me from reaching that goal. I just wnt to encourage you to keep working hard as you will see the results that you are hoping for . Would it be weird if I quoted myself ? No okay. Someone wise once said

” If we all put in A* effort into what we do I think that we can conquer the world! .We all just need inspiration from an unlikely source .”  – Lola LaFortune

I hope that you have been inspired 🙂
