My (not so) secret obsession: Stromae

It all started a few years ago, maybe not so long ago, when I first set my eyes on the Belgian superstar. I was quietly sitting in my French class , not expecting to be attacked by greatness, when someone decided to blast the classroom with the sounds of “Papaoutai”.

Me being me, I laughed terribly at it ,jesting at the plotline of the music video that I didn’t care to understand.

However, one day in the safety of my home – I did it. My first ever stalking session where I listened and watched every STROMAE song I could find on old trusty YouTube. I began to gain a deeper understanding on why he was so popular within the European world. Continue reading “My (not so) secret obsession: Stromae”

Album of the Week #1

Salut mes amis!

It has been a very long time since I have talked to you – It almost feels like a millennium . However, I am here now and  am here to stay. It is so funny how we all make plans but never prioritise what actually matters to us ; what will move us to a better level. Well, today I choose you. Today I am going to let all my emotions out in words . Just as songs do . The sweet, sweet melodies that spring to life by writers can stimulate growth : Expressing your emotions; harbouring a new perspective on life and relaxing your stressed out self .

French Speaking Artists You Should Listen To !

Salut mes amis !

I do not count my self as being an expect on everything and anything about the French language and it’s music . However I am an avid listener of said music and would like to share with you my current French playlist . These songs can be enjoyed by those who love the language ; those who are trying to learn the language and those who just like the sound of it . Let’s begin :

French Street Style : Françoise Hardy

Inspired by : http://www.vogue.com/8271791/francoise-hardy-french-girl-style/

Salut mes amis !

Tomorrow is my French speaking exam, to be honest I am a bit worried about it. Not that I am terrible at French but it is the whole fact that I will be getting assessed on the language that I love. Hopefully , everything will go as planned and that my fears will not over take me .

As I write to you now , Françoise Hardy’s beautiful feather like voice fills my ears , lifting it up with sensations of absolute love and adoration for that Woman. I have always loved French music, any music for that matter . I love how we all grow up with a language that  we develop with full understanding or that we put to the side to explore others. The fact that we all have a way of communicating with each other in a special way , I do not know why but it’s a subject that I hold very close to my heart .

Music and art in itself is a language . A language that one uses to symbolise something that cannot be explained by words alone, rather it compliments the words/ sounds to create an emotion that hopefully everyone can understand. Maybe, that is not the point of the expression we call art , maybe it’s not that we must understand but that we must feel. Feel something deep inside that either compliments the ideas that we have been brought up with or challenges them ; not to change our believes but to strengthen them .

Today , I want to look at the styles that came about during the time of Françoise Hardy. Yes , yes . I have already touched upon the 1960’s and 1970s trends before. However, I really want to dwell on one of my style icons ,yeah you guessed it : Françoise Hardy. Ladies and Gentlemen , Hardy is the exact definition of 60’s/70’s French Fashion done right . Every photograph that I see of her back in the day , makes my jaw drop as the realisation of her stylishness reaches my Central Nervous System . I do not really feel like writing anymore as you just need to see the beauty that is her effortless style .

Ahhh, do you understand what I mean , what an absolute beauty ! If not check out more of Françoise Hardy on my Pinterest :

If you are wandering , my favourite song by Hardy is Message Personnel !

Thank you for reading ! I hope that you have gained some inspiration . 🙂

Moseart by Stromae

Saut mes amis !

Stromae, Stromae,  Stromae . Where do I begin? Stromae(Paul Van Haver )one of my all time favourite artists in the world. He is a Belgian born singer-song writer. His music literally speaks words of wisdom and joy to me . His serenading voice fills the air when I’m excited, when I’m lonely and when I am contempt with life. I seriously cannot into words how much I love this man ! The first song of his that I had heard was Papaoutai and I instantly fell in love with the messages in his music , the truth in his lyrics and the love in his heart. However my absolute favourite song is and always will be , Formidable. If you haven’t heard It yet please check it out here .

Recently, I was directed to the fact that my beloved Stromae as created a fashion line with Coralie Barbier  (his stylist). I am truly amazed about how incredible the Mosaert line is or as it is called ” Capsule 1 and 2″. Take a look for your self :

I hope that you love the collection as much as I did ! Thank you for reading .:)
