Sophia – A speck of Wisdom

“I used to think that it was basically suicide to start to care about something. That the moment you open your self to their embrace they swiftly attack you in your heart with knifes made from their words and actions that you can’t explain. “I thought that you cared for me too” you wonder about their intentions and the value that they place on you – you realise that you are just a small speck of their existence. You realise that to them you ARE insignificant. Continue reading “Sophia – A speck of Wisdom”

Weeding out Hopelessness

Michael Landy, a pioneer of the Young British Artists movement, was born in London in 1963. Landy is best known for his performance installation piece “Break down” where he destroyed and displayed all his possessions. In 2008, Landy was elected as a member of the Royal Academy of Arts London and continues to make a big impact in the artistic industry.

Creeping Buttercup’, which is a detailed study of individual weeds, is a part of Nourishment -a collection of etching pieces. It is said that to acquire the materials needed as inspiration for Creeping Buttercup, Landy found weeds growing in the street.

The meticulous study of the weeds signifies the miraculous growth that can occur in an unfruitful / famine – filled land. Just as in an urban street it is unlikely to find a lot of green spaces. Continue reading “Weeding out Hopelessness”

Tommy Hilfiger Resort collection 2017

Tommy Hilfiger, a multinational high end fashion brand which is highly respected for its wearable designs and beautiful prints. Founded around 31 years ago in 1985 in New York by Tommy Hilfiger himself. It’s no surprise that the latest collection is already a success after recently being launched.

I absolutely love the prints used to create a luxurious casual look with a mix of textures such as lace in some looks which fascinates me the most. The collection almost looks like a mixture of sports luxe to flirty country and to even boss lady style. As you’ve already guessed the usual use of the Tommy Hilfiger logo colours still remain as a trademark look in some of the outfits.

Overall, I can’t wait to see how people play with this collection net year.Judge for yourself bellow:

Trend alert: Embroidered denim

Lately the internet has exploded with pictures upon pictures of embroidered denim pieces-street styled. We all know that this trend is definitely not new but it is more prominent in today’s media.

It is refreshing to see such a 90s -crossed with 70s inspired look come back to life.  These pieces are likely to top  my wishlist.

Are you going to jump on the band wagon? or Are you already loving this trend?

3 bloggers that changed my life

In the last decade Fashion blogs have exploded, with more and more online websites set up every single day. Since the day that I came to know and love the online fashion community there are some who have and always will inspire me. From their uniqueness to their strong sense of self- these bloggers or should I say online Curators have , unknown to themselves, truly inspired me.

The following list showcases some of my favourite fashion and beauty bloggers:

Stella’s Wardrobe

One of my first ever blogs that I came across on the inter-web.Stella Kattermann, a creative and social media manager, grabs audiences with her unique and approachable style. In my opinion, she has not changed her goals or content to fit with the latest online trends through out the years. That is what I truly admire about her ; she has always put out content that I love and I believe that I will continue to love. Continue reading “3 bloggers that changed my life”

When print was in …

Salut mes amis!

Back in the day, more like 2 – 3 years ago, magazines used to rule the fashion industry with a whip .However, things have changed since then and fashion has now been taken over by the digital era.

IMG_4424[1]

Some of you will question my argument saying that Vogue magazine and Elle magazine are huge companies that still stand firm in the print industry. I shall not argue with you as you are 100 percent right . Despite this , Vogue publishes online almost every minute of the day (I’ll have to admit that I am exaggerating just slightly).

IMG_4426[1]

Even the novel industry has been taken over by technology with websites such as wattpad ,which I love, publishing innovative new stories online . Audio books make our lives much easier and our brains a lot less used as we can choose to sit around being read to .

I largely miss those days of visiting the stores in search of the latest Company magazine issue and analysing each article in the magazine in search for inspiration. There is something mesmerising about picking up something physical – feeling it- analysing it .

IMG_4428[1].JPG

Moreover, I do not dispute that digital prints and magazines have many benefits but I will forever be adamant that print will always give a more unique experience than digital but a very isolating one I would like to add. As our society becomes more dependent on technology I hope that we do not forget the feelings and emotions that come about when holding and analysing a book / magazine.

Thank you for reading.

Spring’s rain: 5 Outfits You should Try this Spring

Salut mes amis !

Whilst binge watching thousands of dramas this half term holiday I had an epiphany. The kind that stops you from doing anything and makes you think. I still can’t understand why or what it meant but all I wanted to do was to create . I do not think that I am making any sense right now but I also think that that’s okay too.

Spring is a time where we have forgotten the torturing cold whilst looking towards our sunny futures. It is a kind of midway point that I sometimes forget to enjoy or to embrace .

Oaffing around with Lazy Oaf

cropped-wp_20141217_0015

To quote myself  “Lazy Oaf is a graphic fashion label founded by Gemma Shiel , who after leaving University with a degree in textile design and screen printing began making t-shirts and selling them on a market stall. . This eventually turned into turning it into a business (an amazing business). Read more about it here.”

Salut mes amis!

Lazy Oaf is a brand that I have been acquainted with for a few years now . They are visually inspiring and weirdly brilliant . They have recently released a collaborative collection with internet sensation “Don’t Hug me I’m Scared”. With previous collaborations being absolutely amazing I was really excited to witness what genius creations Lazy Oaf have been up to . If I do say so myself they did not disappoint !
