Film review: Radiance

This film review is well overdue as since encountering Radiance early this year I have watched it over 5 times including the times that I have just listened to the audio as I fell asleep. That is how much impact this film made in my life the first time I watched it and I feel that it deserves even more recognition than it did when it was first released.

Film Essay: Happy Feet

Disclaimer: This article contains spoilers

Happy feet is one of those films that is cemented in the way I view my childhood. I can remember vividly our family outing to Cineworld, the excitement rising inside of me as we entered Cineworld. The delicious smell of popcorn tantalising my 6 -year-old self, leading me, unfortunately for my parents, to beg and scream for food. I remember sitting comfortably in the chair- legs dangling in the air with a snack box in hand- waiting joyfully for the movie to start. From the opening heart song sequence with Memphis and Norma I was sold, and Happy Feet became my new obsession. As a 6-year-old I was obsessed with Happy Feet and as now a 19-year-old I appreciate it even more. Maybe it could seem a little bit embarrassing that on my 19th year on this Earth I still drop tears at an animated movie targeted at toddlers but there are so many hidden gems and themes in Happy feet that make it one of my favourite movies of all times. I am proud to say that I have watched the film twice this year already and will probably be watching it more in the future. Continue reading “Film Essay: Happy Feet”

A Nameless Love

Inspired by the animated movie: Your name.

Love:
If only I was brave enough to whisper it to the air.
To let the vibrations of the atoms send joyful signals to his ears.
But that would only awaken my fears.

I’m a coward.
I’m scared of exposing my feelings for him.
I’m afraid of looking him in the eye
And telling a lie,
A lie that I know that he wants to hear,
<<I don’t love you>>
Those words, not my own
Those words that I know that he secretly holds in his heart
And believes to be what’s in mine. Continue reading “A Nameless Love”

Orange (movie) review

Orange ,which is based off a manga series by  Ichigo Takano, is an eye- catching and poignant story of high school students who are given a chance to radically change their future. I have been itching to watch the film ever since it was announced that Kento Yamazaki would play the lead. Yamazaki definitely did not disappoint – he depicted young Kakeru Naruse beautifully along side the other cast.

The plot almost follows the same underline meaning as Ao Haru ride which also depicts a teenage boy who is battered with scars from his past and needs support and care from his friends. However, this is where the similarities of the two mangas stop as they both carry different weights and emotional ties that should be experienced. Continue reading “Orange (movie) review”

Mr Nietzsche in the convenience store (Review)

Salut mes amis !

Weeks have gone past since I have been able to sit done and indulge without feeling the guilt that comes with procrastination. However, I did manage to complete a whole drama during my procrastination sessions which ,if I may add, is very impressive.

Mr Nietzsche in the convenience store is a Japanese drama that seems to be at the top of the Must see list this Spring. To be honest, I never knew that such brilliance existed until it buzzed into all my social media platforms and ,as you do, I decided to follow the crowd. I am pleased to say that Mr Nietzsche in the convenience store was far better than I expected.

Happy New Year mes amis!

Long time no blog! Haha – I’m sorry about my attempt at being funny . Well it wasn’t that bad ,was it? Anyway It’s a new year which means a new phase of dedication to you wonderful people who actually spend time reading my/our content. *Yay*

This blog post is long overdue -very ,very overdue may I add. I just Wanna Hug you or Dakishimetai – Shinjitsu No Monogatari is a Japanese film that came out on the 1st of  February  2014 which was 2 years ago (gasp!) . Since the day that I saw I just Wanna Hug you it seems as if I just can’t forget it . It’s one of those films that stay in your heart forever. I am not really one to cry over a film as I usually don’t get attached to characters that I have only seen for 107 minutes or for however long the film is. Despite this , I just Wanna Hug you fully attacked my heart to the point that I was bent over my laptop screaming to the heavens “Why!” . The fact that the story is in fact true did not help my broken heart and my damp face .

You Taught Me All the Precious Things review

Salut mes amis !

As you should already know I’m a little Drama obsessed (and by a little I mean a lot ). I have been willing to do this post for a long time but as a common case of procrastination I have left it until now . You taught me all the precious things is a Japanese drama that at first I wasn’t really sure about ;mostly because I was confused about what actually happened between Shoji (played by the handsome Haruma Miura) and Hikari ( played by Emi Takei) . Nevertheless I rather enjoyed the plot twist that I actually wasn’t expecting and no one can deny how adorable Shuji’s and Natsumi’s relationship is . I was mostly disappointed when Natsumi called it quits as it was totally uncalled for ; seriously who would beak up with a guy with a face like this :

 (ahh)

Sorry about that back to the review –

Plot “Shuji is a young teacher whose confidence and honesty has made him popular with the students. He is engaged to Natsumi, also a teacher at the same high school. At the morning of the new semester, Shuji wakes up with a hangover and no memory of the night before, and a strange young woman in his bed. He feels terrible about possibility of having cheated on his fiancée, but when it turns out the girl is a student in his class Shuji is wrecked with guilt. Things go from bad to worse when the girl, Hikari, makes it clear that she’s in love with him and wants to break him and Natsumi apart. Shuji’s honest nature makes him want to come clean to everyone about what has happened, but before he has the chance, the secret is out. As his life starts crumbling around him, Shuji still decides to try and save Hikari from herself.” – IMDb

Genre  Romance, School

I can’t begin to describe the love that I have for this drama I just wish that they did a season 2  !

Emotions   As I have already expressed , I absolutely loved this drama and the plot was quite different to what I was expecting . I believe that anyone would enjoy this emotional drama .

Overall, I would definitely recommend this heart felt drama , so why not start it today 🙂

P.S Any suggestions on Drama’s that I should watch ?
